Adil H. Mina Assumes Leadership of New Division; George W. Woodard to Direct Engineering Program
DALLAS, TX - (August 16, 2000) - Continental Electronics today announced that it has become a division of Metric Systems Corporation, another wholly-owned subsidiary of Tech-Sym Corporation (NYSE: TSY). Metric Systems has acquired the products, customer base and employees that were associated with Continental Electronics Corporation's high power transmitter product lines and FM product lines.
The transition will be transparent to Continental Electronics' customer base. Continental Electronics will continue to offer to its worldwide customers full support for all of its product lines, including spare parts and sales for various transmitter products. The new division will continue to operate from its current Dallas facility.
Adil H. Mina, an internationally respected expert in high power radio broadcast systems, has been promoted to general manager of the new Continental Electronics Division after more than 34 years of service at Continental Electronics Corporation. Mina assumes all responsibilities for the day-to-day operation as well as new business development for international and domestic radio broadcast markets. While at Continental Electronics Corporation, Mina served in many capacities of increasing responsibility, most recently as vice president of marketing responsible for all international and government marketing. As an engineer, his duties also included project management of high power and international projects.
"Adil is the ideal choice to lead our new Continental Electronics Division," said George Lee, vice president and director of Metric Systems' Electronics Division. "He is an astute, foresighted businessman who understands the forces that shape the radio broadcasting marketplace. Under his leadership, we expect to build upon on our customer base and further extend our reputation for innovative, reliable products and superior customer service."
"As general manager of Metric Systems' Continental Electronics Division, it is my goal to leverage the fundamental strategies and core technologies responsible for making Continental Electronics the superior choice in radio broadcasting transmitters," Mina said.
In another management move, Continental Electronics has named veteran radio frequency (RF) engineer George W. Woodard as director of engineering. Woodard will lead Continental Electronics' research and development programs and oversee the design, production and implementation of all domestic and international customer installations.
Woodard returns to Continental Electronics, bringing with him almost 40 years experience in RF engineering. Woodard spent the first two decades of his career at Continental Electronics as the principal design engineer for high power broadcast, scientific, and military radio products and projects. Most recently, he was with the International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB) in Washington, DC, where he spent five years as the director of engineering. The IBB is the U.S. government's international broadcast services, which oversees organizations such as the Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, Radio Free Asia and Radio Marti. Woodard also spent 10 years as vice president of engineering for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL, Inc.) in Munich, Germany. He also authored the transmitter section for the last three editions of the National Association of Broadcasters' handbook.
"George is an internationally known and highly respected RF engineer who brings a tremendous level of knowledge and leadership ability to our engineering staff," Mina said. "We believe that our customers will benefit from his expertise as we continue to expand and service our growing customer base with the gold standard in broadcast transmitter equipment."
