09-20-00 BRISTOL BROADCASTING INSTALLS NEW CONTINENTAL ELECTRONICS TRANSMITTER AT WAEZ-FM IN GREENVILLE, TN
DALLAS, TX - (September 20, 2000) - Continental Electronics today announced that it has completed the installation of an 816R-5C FM transmitter at Bristol Broadcasting's WAEZ-FM radio station in Greenville, TN. The 35 kW transmitter is the latest addition to Bristol Broadcasting's fleet of 11 Continental Electronics transmitters. With the power of the 816R-5C, Top 40 listeners in the East Tennessee area will be able to receive clear, reliable signals, day in and day out. Based in Bristol, VA, Bristol Broadcasting owns 16 radio stations in three markets in Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia.

Chuck Lawson, director of engineering, said Bristol Broadcasting selected Continental Electronics based on 15 years of experience with the company's transmitter products. "I simply like Continental Electronics' tube transmitter because they are reliable and easy to maintain. Continental also backs its products with excellent customer service."

About the 816R Series Transmitter

Ranging from 11 kW to 35 kW, Continental Electronics' 816R Series Transmitters is the company's No. 1 selling product line and one of the most admired transmitters in the broadcast industry. With a field-proven track record of dependability, the transmitter's basic design has remained unchanged for more than 30 years.

These transmitters use only one tube, the final power amplifier tube. The IPA is solid state and requires no tuning. The exclusive "soft-startTM" circuit brings the transmitter gradually to full TPO and the low voltage controls allow the transmitter to recycle and return to the exact previous operational status.

The 11 kW through 30 kW versions of the 816R Series transmitters are totally self-contained, including the harmonic filter. The 35 kW version has the high voltage rectifiers and plate transformer located in a separate chassis. There are no controls, fuses, or circuit breakers on this cabinet, so it may be located up to 100 feet away from the main cabinet.
