09-20-00 DICK BROADCASTING ADDS SECOND CONTINENTAL ELECTRONICS TRANSMITTER TO NEW BIRMINGHAM BROADCASTING FACILITY

DALLAS, TX - (September 20, 2000) - Continental Electronics today announced that Dick Broadcasting has accepted delivery of its second Continental Electronics transmitter for its combined facilities for two Birmingham, AL radio stations. The new Continental Electronics 816R-4C will transmit signals for WYSF-FM, flagship station for the syndicated "The Rick and Bubba Show."

The 27.5 kW transmitter was installed at a new, specially-designed facility that also houses a 35 kW 816-5C transmitter and a G5CPS Broadband Antenna System purchased last year from Continental Electronics for Dick Broadcasting's WZRR, "Classic Rock" 99.5 FM. These transmitters replace two older Continental Electronics transmitter systems, which now are used for backup purposes.

Dick Broadcasting selected Continental Electronics for this upgrade because of the company's reputation for support and service. "The sales and support staff are unparalleled. The folks there are very easy to work with and always eager to provide detailed information about my equipment and answer any of my questions."

About Dick Broadcasting

Knoxville-based Dick Broadcasting owns five stations in Birmingham, AL, and nine in Nashville and Knoxville, TN, and Greensboro, NC.

About the 816R Series Transmitter

Ranging from 11 kW to 35 kW, Continental Electronics' 816R Series Transmitters is the company's No. 1 selling product line and one of the most admired transmitters in the broadcast industry. With a field-proven track record of dependability, the transmitter's basic design has remained unchanged for more than 30 years.

These transmitters use only one tube, the final power amplifier tube. The IPA is solid state and requires no tuning. The exclusive "soft-startTM" circuit brings the transmitter gradually to full TPO and the low voltage controls allow the transmitter to recycle and return to the exact previous operational status.

The 11 kW through 30 kW versions of the 816R Series transmitters are totally self-contained, including the harmonic filter. The 35 kW version has the high voltage rectifiers and plate transformer located in a separate chassis. There are no controls, fuses, or circuit breakers on this cabinet, so it may be located up to 100 feet away from the main cabinet.
