The Continental Type
418DRM 100 kW Shortwave Broadcast Transmitter has been designed and developed to provide high quality performance, optimum efficiency, and long-term reliability in the shortwave broadcast bands. Operation is provided in the standard amplitude modulation (AM), AM with Controlled Carrier-level Modulation (CCM) or optionally with SSB. The
418DRM has been field tested and proven with the DRM system.
The Type 418DRM 100 kW Transmitter is the direct descendent of a long and successful line of CEC 100 kW broadcast transmitters. The
418DRM employs the highly refined and reliable RF sections of its predecessors. The RF amplifier tube of the
418DRM is the 4CV100000C tetrode, which is one of the longest life tubes available.

Overall transmitter efficiency in excess of 72%.

Maximum reliability afforded by minimum number of high gain amplifier stages; final power amplifier (4CV100000C tube) operated at less than 25% of its rated plate dissipation.

High efficiency Solid State Modulator which provides superior audio performance.

Controller Carrier-level Modulation (CCM) available, with carrier level reduction of up to 6 dB during program pauses.

Built-in remote control and monitoring.

Built-in Single Side Band capability using phase amplitude system for a PEP program output power of up to 300 kW. (OPTIONAL)
