815C SERVICE MEMO FOR 815C 5KW SOLID STATE FM TRANSMITTER

Some transmitters may not have adequate VSWR protection. To prevent damage it is recommended to check and calibrate as follows.

  1. With the transmitter on and from a controlling PC enter the password (PASS6018).

  2. Go to the LIMT screen.

  3. Write down what line #3, reflected power, red line number is ________ then change it to 600.

  4. Write down what line #12, pa VSWR, red line number is _________ then change it to 900. On 2.5kw, it defaults to 319.99.

  5. Esc to exit LIMT

  6. Next go to METER VALUES screen and locate forward and reflected power bar graphs. Look for the blue line on the bar and record its value. Forward______ Reflected_________

  7. Next enter the following commands:

    • TYPE: POWR500 For 2.5kw type POWR250

    • TYPE: RFLP550 For 2.5kw type RFLP300

  8. Turn the reflected element around so the arrow points toward the output. ( 500W or 250W element)

  9. Note: The VSWR and other warning flags will turn on…this is ok.

  10. Forward transmitter power should be 500 watts. 250W for 2.5kw.

  11. Reflected power should also be 500 watts. 250w for 2.5kw.

  12. If the reflected power is not 500 watts(250) then recalibrate the reflected power by adjusting A8R4 on the meter control card for 500(250) watts reflected power.

  13. Turn reflected element around so arrow points toward the harmonic filter.

  14. Go to limt screen

  15. Reset line #3 reflected power red line to its original number recorded earlier.

  16. Rest line #12 pa vswr red line to its original number recorded earlier. (Probably 2.0).

  17. Esc to exit LIMT

  18. TYPE: POWR_____ original power(station TPO)

  19. Calibration is complete. The transmitter should operate normally.
