Continental Electronics has extensive experience in the design, development, manufacturing, and installation of complex RF communications stations throughout the world including VLF submarine communications, LF timing stations, HF over-the-horizon and surface-wave radars, and many customized design-to-spec applications for commercial and government uses alike. . Transmitters from 1MW to 2MW output power have been built for naval stations around the world since the 1960s.

VALUE
(VLF Ashore Lifetime Upkeep Effort) - In 1999, Continental received the follow-on contract to TKAP for an additional $35 million in renovations and upgrades to the Navy's worldwide submarine communications sites.
These upgrades, known as the VALUE program, replace old control systems with state-of-the-art computer systems, and at the same time, remove and replace all the aging wire in these multi-megawatt transmitters.
The station in Cutler, Maine, is to be changed to dual frequency operation.
Numerous equipments nearing obsolescence are being replaced.

Arecibo
- Continental Electronics has earned recognition in scientific circles with its 1MW planetary radio transmitter, a key component behind the Arecibo Observatory's radio telescope. The Arecibo radio telescope is the world's largest single-dish radio telescope. With the support of CEC's engineering expertise, NASA scientists were able to map the moon in preparation for the historic lunar landings.

HAARP - One of our largest active program is HAARP, a collection of 132 transmitters provided by Continental Electronics over a 3 yr. period. Continental was awarded the program for the design and supply of a ten kilowatt average output transmitters for the Ionospheric Research Instrument (IRI) for the HAARP program in Gakona, Alaska. The transmitters are designed as paired sets of two 10 kW transmitters, using a common power supply and control system. Each of the eighteen transmitter pairs feeds a crossed dipole pair.
Several of other large installations have recently undergone upgrades performed by CEC, extending their service lives well into the 21st Century. VLF submarine communications, LF timing stations, HF over-the-horizon and surface-wave radars, and many customized design-to-spec applications for commercial and government uses alike.
